As I couldn’t wait any longer for the opportunity to see you live again, and it being almost ten years since I saw you in Adelaide, I travelled to Oakland in 2008 at 18 to see you front row; and it was well worth it. You had as much energy on stage as I remembered in 1999, and gave such a spectacular, awe-inspiring performance.

Yes! You were the first Artist to became my favorite without nobody introducing your music to me. It just caught on a way that kept me inspired and cheering me up when i’m blue. I’m a huge brazilian fan since 1996 who came to US in 2008 to be an au pair and I said to myself “i’m only leaving this country when I see you playing live” I never had money to see you playing in Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo… I’m from Salvador-Brazil; and funny story… when I saw you in Boston, MA for the first time, my english was bad, i cried so much, I meant to say “my dream came true” but it turned out saying ” My came true dream” then you just gave me such a gorgeous smile while you were autographing my CD, that was the best time of my life… And I think I deserve this Harmonica because I always made myself embarrassed trying to play it and coping you, I always thought was cool to play an instrument and I’d never had a chance and that would make me want to learn even more… I love you even if I don’t know in person, I’ve had hard time trying to figure myself out, finding my inner peace and happiness and you are a hope for me, an example that one day i’ll achieve the true beautiful meaning of happy life. Hey Alanis,
When I was 7 years old in ’99, I was infected with spinal bacterial meningitis. I’m VERY lucky to have survived, but it’s not without its complications. Having lost all of my hearing in my right ear, and much of hearing in my left, and many complications with my spine that I had to deal with in 2001, resulting in surgery, and some drawbacks still exist to this day.
My point is some days are harder than others to feel not-so-different due to the stuff mentioned above but I’ve found solace in your music. Your vulnerability and honesty in your music is something I admire very much. You inspire me to be honest and upfront with my emotions as well.
I also love the fact that your music brings many people from many different places, backgrounds, etc. together. You are our common ground.

So many good reasons to get a Harmonica. I Fell in Love with Alanis in Winter 1985, when i was on vacations with my Parents in Portugal. I was sad because i was far Away from my boyfriend. I wished to have somebody to Talk about my assumption of beeing pregnant. Your Music was a Great help. Now our Son is 15 and me and my Husband are still in Love After more than 26 Years of knowing eachother. And of course we are still in Love with Alanis. You are THE reason I picked up a harmonica at such a young age. At age 7, I would go in my room every day after school and listen to Jagged Little Pill. At 23, I’m not sure if much has changed – I still listen to that original disc. It was a lot of rich content for a 7 year old, but what I got from it was that you embodied the soul of a strong woman, and I aspired to be every bit of that as I grew older.
