I know about it. My sister-in-law is pregnant, fighting with the doctors to have a natural birth…As biologist, I agree that science is here to help, but nature is here to teach more than we handle to learn.
Like the new site Alanis, and learning about your new role as a Mother. It’s all very fascinating.

I was at your concert in Oakland Ca and was dancing in my seat and the isles and bumped into a woman next to me. when I said “sorry” she gave me a look like “how dare you bump into ME!” and I leaned over and said:

This movie changed my life. My first child was a C-section…I had no idea I was even sad about a C-section until I saw this film. I birthed a 10.7 lb VBAC for my second child (I fought for every bit of this birth) and if I have a third I will have a home birth if a good midwife will take on my case. I found hypnobabies to be a great resource! Thank you for posting about this film.
I love the new site and how interactive it is – just a heads up though… on the comments page for the “Win the signed harmonica…” and the main page. The background gradient on the dark side gets to dark where you can’t read the text. You might wanna have your web designer A)change the font color or b) lighten the gradient! Just a suggestion! I do love the new site though and hope that it helps you interact with your fans on a more personal basis.

Watching “The Business of Being Born” was a real eye-opener. We actually watched it with an expectant mom who hadn’t heard about it, and she was pretty shocked to see the tactics that doctors/hospitals go through for their own benefit. She ended up deciding to use a birthing center as a result.
Love this. I am a Nursing student and one of the courses that I’m taking this semester is Maternity. For the course, we read the book “Birth: The Surprising History of How We Are Born.” It was phenomenal. I highly recommend it. The whole course has been phenomenal, actually, and once I’m a RN, I hope to work in labor and delivery.

That’s great to see your new site. It is really paceful to read all you put in here and all your articles, comments and videos.
I really think it is fantastic, love the content and I love the blue but sometimes it is a bit difficult to read the letters that are in the faded dark blue to the right hand side of the site.
Please put up some videos to learn how to play the harmonica as well.

I cannot believe how different obstetrics in America is, compared to Switzerland. As you could read in my other comment, I’m a midwife. We ACCOMPANY and SUPPORT women and their partners during delivery (home, birthplace, hospital), we are part of the whole experience but it’s the woman who delivers her baby.
*** we need midwives, more than ever ***
I am obsessed with the business of being born. I love these movies, the information in them is so enlightening. I can’t wait to be working in this field… And having babies is truly beautiful. I definitely want to have a home birth the next time around
