Whether we say that we are ‘identified with ego’ or ‘attached’ or ‘believe in the illusion’ matters not…what matters is that we are holding on to something (some state of being, some person, place, thing) that by It’s very nature is meant to be temporary, ephemeral, and ultimately, fleeting. — am

yep!
Amazing! Is it in your book?
Good Day Alanis,
“Temporary” is ok. How many things are permanent in all of existence? Matter, energy, space, time, existence, any others?
It might be very productive to focus on what we do with the temporary identities that we have………… (Contribute to the betterment of humanity)………..
Au Revoir…….
Suddenly we feel the need to leave it all behind, to reset our personality and the way we’re seen by ourselves and the others, when we get enough of being ‘who we are’. It will happen untill the last second of our lives. It’s human instinct.
holding on, or pushing away…
The most important is also wait for something that we believe it´s coming. Hold on things that we want to keep with us. Nowadays, life has it´s own things naturally fleeing; People, love, friendship, freedom. Few things that we can really be attached with. Good is to have things to hold on. A state of being like peace, a person like a husband or son or brother, a place where you always wanted to be and a thing that you worked hard to have. This is what matters.
Debora, thats a pure and beautiful statement, hold on to one or ones we love,
realize beauty in our emptiness,
do interact with me sans ego and violence,
nor verbal, non verbal, mind games, physical or metaphysical. thank god for my existence.
We believe in our truth and we do not actually imposes
The whole concept of the ego, illusion, is so brillaint. We build our homes on the most fleeting of footings, and as they shift and dissapear we are forced to find solid ground. Then that melts! It goes on and on till all that remains is heart. Just love how it all works.
Living is temporary , Loving is eternal.
And the only way out is through..
xx
In my estimation the only thing of permanence is Change- godspeed
how quick one’s life passes and yet touches so many…
i dont know man im not to down with this quote…i mean i know that we are in a sense always decaying but it sucks..i don’t want to accept that one point in my life my heart is going to stop beating..this is why it is so important to be creative, to leave an imprint to those who follow you so they can learn from your mistakes and have a better future….im preaching to the converted i know. still its a great thought alanis when i read it at first i was like “man how come i couldnt come up with that?”
i just read a great quote by a musician named kreayshawn and she said “figuring out what the problem is is the problem”
and i re-read your quote and instantly wanted to figure out why we as humans were destined to eventually die…
so i dunno
if i were to continue posting would the numbers match the times i have posted?
im not good at math. (s0rry for mucking up your comments section)
for example 13. 1+3 = 4….the number of times that i have posted. does this have any significance to death and eternity. or am i being a weirdo?
I agree, life is transient. One mentality flows into another. One belief system into another. I see myself changing my ideas on life constantly. I try to keep an open mind but bring a skeptical eye. I’ve carried very different positions in life, even polar opposite ones at different times. To others it must seem that I can’t make up my mind or must be shizophrenic. The bigger ideas seem to last a few years and then I notice I shift into another set of ideas. Each time I sit in them, ponder, analyze, dig in as deep as possible. Then I move on. The nice thing is it gives me understanding of many different types of mentatlities, beliefs, perspectives, and persons. I wonder if I’ll ever achieve a certain state of mind or if this fluid motion forward will always continue to change and mold into something different.
