Whatever experience this journey of life throws toward you, there’s likely to be an Alanis song that you put on repeat because the lyrics speak volumes to you, express what you can’t put into words yourself, or have given you insight or hope. I like to refer to it as lyrical bliss.
This group is created for you to share how Alanis’ lyrics have made an impact in your life. Share stories of tears, joy, and everything in the middle. I think we’ll find it interesting to see just how many different ways her lyrics can be interpreted and how she’s made an impact on us all.

Ever since I was about 10 I’ve enjoyed listening to her distinct voice and awesome songs. Many of her songs have helped me threw hard times in my life, breakups, anger, guilt. (You Oughta Know, This Grudge, Moratorium, Not as We especially come to mind. Her songs also have helped me feel happiness and joy (Everything, Giggling Again for No Reason, Knees of my Bees) Her music is perfect for every mood. Certain songs are good for other moods, some good for others. But no matter my mood I can always put in an Alanis song and just rock out to it.
You are so right! I also feel like that. All of Alanis´ songs could be the soundtrack of my life…

Lyrical Bliss: 6 months ago · ViewOne of my high school students was very upset because her girlfriend had dumped her and ’outed’ her at school. She started talking about how music always makes her feel better but that there wasn’t a song for her experience. I told her about Alanis’ song Not as We and how feeling alone in love and struggling to move forward when your identitity has been so tied to another human being is universal; a shared experience regardless of sexual orientation. She listened that night and returned the next day to say how much she loved the song and that she downloaded all of Alanis’ music. A small but significant example of how Alanis’ music connects and heals. Peace and love.
