- - "Hi,recently read about your battle with PND and wanted to share my story with you!!!
IMy name is Kate I am a Mother of three fantastic children who I adore!
I have lived battled and won the fight against this awful illness twice, the first time being the more severe. After the birth of my daughter who was my second child after a fifteen year break I was unable to bond with her and unwilling to  care for her, I had suicidal thoughts and basically felt as though my word had fell apart and I had made a big mistake,  I was the life and soul of the party before Postnatal depression knocked on my door and stole all that I was away from me! I felt I was no longer me just a mum, my identity had been stolen!
I was fortunate to have been supported by a fantastic organisation the PSS Postnatal Depression project based in Liverpool,  I received one to one support within my own home, this was just what I needed as I would have never gone over the door , I was at the time experiencing high levels of social anxiety  and would be physically sick at the thought of going out my front door.  I had financial worries, housing issues all of which added to my depression and all of which my support worker helped me to sort out. I went on to have another little girl andyes unfortunately OND came knocking once again. This time I had the the tools the knowledge and more importantly trhe courage to stand up and take control. I am now fully recovered and spend my spare time volunteering for the project, I co facilitate support groups, speak to a wide variety of professionals and campaigning to raise awareness of PND and aim to promote that RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE!
I enjoy shareing my story, I am an open book and want the world to know how dreadful this can be, but how with the right support and treatment PND can be […] "View
