The city’s high-profile reform effort to place ‚Äúsuper principals‚ÄĚ in high-needs schools has been quietly put on ice.
No new principals have been offered the extra $25,000 a year since August 2010 ‚Äē possibly because of the mixed results produced by the program.
Executive principals were installed at schools starting in February 2008 as an alternative to the city‚Äôs harsher reform efforts, Michael Kors Macys like closing struggling schools and replacing them with new small schools.
But two of the eight schools led by super principals are now slated to close.

Some of the schools led by super principals have seen a rebirth. Department of Education officials declined to discuss the fate of the program or any of the specific schools.
‚ÄúOne of our top priorities has been to recruit talented people to lead our schools, and we will be analyzing the results of this program to determine whether it will continue in its current form,‚ÄĚ said Department of Education spokeswoman Barbara Morgan.
