Why can’t we all be like this wise old bird?

I use to think this was something people would tell their children to keep quiet, but I realize there are many who will sit, watch and listen and not be the wiser. I think this is actually saying to pay attention and draw your own conclusions. It seems today everyone is spoon fed knowledge and accepts what they are told. I choose the latter. I will try to draw my own conclusions whenever possible, and this just might lead to something original or brilliant in the sense so that I may discover something new and one day, be one of the giants whose shoulders we all seem to stand upon.
Many owls will grow old, but few will be the wiser. In my opinion, empathy is the greatest wisdom of all. To feel for someone regardless of what they are feeling. Maybe for a moment you or they won’t fell alone, maybe for a moment I might gain some inside I never knew, maybe for a moment we might be able to help each other, maybe for a moment we could be what we are and find a common ground to stand upon.
At the very least we could be kind.-
Oddly enough I came to this thought when I was listening to ”That I would be Good.” from Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie when I first heard it in 2010. I never actually knew that album existed until then. It’s my favorite Alanis Song!!! It’s one of thoses songs you get in your head and can’t get out (who would want to). Sometimes I put it on repeat and just write for hours. Could anyone who heard this really be a bad person?
