DETROIT â Even the eerily calm John Idzik must Michael Kors Handbags Discount have felt his heart skip as he saw his prized rookie quarterback, Geno Smith, limping off the field, heading toward the trainers. Smithâs first career NFL game, and he already was hurt. The rookie had taken an awkward fall, hurting his right ankle in the process, as he scrambled away from pressure in the third quarter of the Jetsâ 26-17 preseason loss in Detroit on Friday night.
Shortly thereafter, it appeared the Jets simply had suffered a scare.
Smith said he rolled his ankle, and that an X-ray had turned up clean. Walking to the podium to speak to the media, he barely had a limp as he wore an electronic stimulator on his right leg.
âI told the trainers I want to go back to practice on Monday and I expect to play in our next game,â Smith said. âWeâll take it day by day. It feels a bit sore right now, but Iâm pretty sure it will get better.â

The QB said he was in âcomplete disbeliefâ when he felt pain. âI was just hoping that it isnât anything significant, which it isnât,â he Michael Kors Diaper Bag said, adding that had it been the regular season, he would have âdefinitelyâ gone back on the field.
âIâm the type guy, Iâm not going to walk off that field unless they pull me off of it,â Smith said.
The rookieâs ankle injury adds a new wrinkle to the Jetsâ quarterback competition. Just a couple Michael Kors Website of days of lost practice could kill Smithâs chance at winning the starting job for Week 1.
Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah is surrounded by teammates after picking off Mark Sanchez for a 14-yard touchdown return.
The problem for Rex Ryan? Mark Michael Kors Purses Sanchez made the worst play of the night.

It may be his fifth year in the league, but it was still the same old Sanchez, the QB committing a cringe-worthy error and then being perfect on a touchdown drive to leave Jets fansâ heads spinning.
It took only one minute, 29 seconds for the veteran in the Jets quarterback competition to look like a rookie.
On the Jetsâ fourth play from scrimmage, Sanchez faced pressure from Lions defensive lineman Willie Young. Falling backward, the quarterback tried to throw a prayer to fullback Tommy Bohanon, who was on the ground, but couldnât even clear Lionsâ first-round pick Ziggy Ansah. The defensive end picked it off and returned it for a touchdown.
Sanchez is an enigma who will make it tough for Ryan (and John Idzik, Marty Mornhinweg and David Lee, because itâs a âcollective decisionâ) to decide if the Jets should stick with their hot-and-mostly-cold former first-rounder.

Mark Sanchez goes 10-13 for 125 yards with a TD and an interception.
Ryan didnât see Sanchezâs interception, he said. In fact, he said he couldnât evaluate the quarterbacks much beyond the stats because he was busy with the defense.
âI had my own issues on the other side of the ball,â Ryan said. âSo I really never focused a whole lot when (Smith) was in there. Weâll see on tape.â
Sanchez ultimately recovered from his mistake, putting together a scoring drive capped by a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Cumberland.

Prior to Smithâs injury, his night had been entirely uneventful as he completed six of seven passes for 47 yards on four drives, though the rookie quarterback said afterward he thought he had played âexceptionally well.â
The Jets managed just two first downs with Smith at the helm over the course of three and a half drives.
Even after the brutal start, Sanchez finished with a decent stat line: 10-for-13 for Michael Kors On Sale 125 yards with a TD and Michael Kors Discount INT. That interception looms large, however, as it is probably seared in the back of Ryanâs mind.
The good news for Sanchez: If Smith has to miss more than a day or two with his rolled ankle, his interception might not matter.
